The plan is to update this as required during the regular second Tuesday of the Month Security update.

If required, Windows Update would push an emergency update.

Recommended.

Thanks Bill!

Good advice + great people = tek-tips

Thanks, have to give it a try.

Hope it doesn't remove Windows <rim shot>. ;)

after getting the notice here i found that AU had already notified me that it was available, so i went for it.

suprisingly it is an online scan for active bad stuff, only leaves a log file behind.

what i would really like to see MS perfect would be a program that could actively create, check and update hash values for their system and program files and use this as a monitor of any tinkering with these files/programs by malicious intruders.

i gather this tool is not rthe same as the ex-giant antispyware tool??

they are planning a subscription fee all the same!!
pfffff

This is different from the ex-Giant program.
And, no fee.

tried spywareblaster...

seems good...

Spyware Blaster is a nice product (and freeware), but it is not a cleaner. Nor is it an anti-worm or anti-virus program.
