Hi all
this is my first post here.
I have to create a Data Center with a Microsoft Server plattform. On this server many client (from a min of 100 - max 200 clients) doing access from remote. I 've just call Microsoft certified partner and he told me that i've to buy TS CAL (Terminal Server CAL), but for 200 client is too expensive. One TS CAL cost something about 90€ with software assurance.

I would like to ask if someone know other solutions like... Enterprise Agreement or something else.

Many thanks

Davide

I'd call a big Microsoft Reseller as they should have licensing specialists. MS licensing gets pretty complex when it comes to volume agreements and rights for 3rd party companies.

It will depend on what services they need to access and whether they want ownership of the licences or not. Also you have to really think if you want Software Assurance, given the next version of Windows isn't due for a couple of years I wouldn't bother myself. Microsft also have a Service Provider licence agreement you could look into which is more a rental based scheme but makes it very easy to budget. Apart from that you may want to look into Select and Enterprise Subscription Licensing, based on what you're offering your clients.

You might also look at the concurrent need. If you have 5,000 users of a system but only 900 are connected at once, then you only need 901 licenses. The extra 1 is to allow that next guy you didn't see coming ;)

Sounds like you could get away with starting at 100 and adding increments of 25 or 50 TS licenses.
