Microsoft Games, Solitare, Freecell, Minesweeper. 1

I have located the files int /WINNT/system32 I delete them and they re-appear, they come back.

my question is how do you uninstall the microsoft games?

solitare = sol.exe
minsweeper = winmine.exe
freecell = freecell.exe

I can't delete them, so there must be a way to uninstall.

Use your disk.
Add/remove programs > WIndows Setup > Games ....

if you don't see the Games folder in add\remove --> windows components --> accessories --> Games, then goto:

WINNT\INF and look for a file called: SYSOC.INF or something and remove the word "HIDE" (leave the comma there) from lines GAMES, ACCESSUTIL=, and PINBALL.

Then redo the above and remove it.

Done.

Ok--I must be doing something WRONG!!
I have gone to the sysoc.inf, removed the HIDE..
gone to Control Panel, Remove Windows Components, removed the games. (Windows KB 314614)(This took the games out of Start>programs>accessories>Games (now shows empty).
rebooted several times.
The games still exist! The user can now just navigate to C:\Winnt\System32\freecell.exe (or sol.exe etc.) & run them manually. And, again, if I delete them they re-appear.
Is there a way to REALLY REMOVED them?

Try this: Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Add/Remove Windows Components. On the Window Components Wizard that pops up, highlight "Accessories and Utilities." Then click the "Detail" button. Uncheck "Games," then the OK Button, then the "Next" button.

Yes, this does "uninstall" the games. When you look at start>programs>accessories>games is empty.
BUT
if you search for file freecell*.* ( or spider or winmine or sol or mshearts or pinball) on your C; drive you will most likely find other copies. I found all of the games again in I386 (a hidden folder). Once I found them all, I deleted, emptied the recycle bin & I HOPE that they are gone for good.

probably MS thinks that the games are cruical parts of the system and treats them like other system-files (auto-"repair")...
