Hi all

Having an odd problem. Just got a new server and copied some company data over to it. I've set up a scheduled backup with MS Server Backup to run everyday. Bearing in mind I got 5 new tapes with this server.

I come in the next day to see if its worked and its only backed up the folder structure of the selected drive, but non on the files!

If I run the backup manually, it works perfectly. It only appears to happen if its doing the scheduled backup.

Is it because they're just new tapes and it requires some sort of user input to format the tape?

Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be greatfully received.

Cheers

Perhaps the account, under which scheduled task is running, have no permissions to access the files in these folders?

Well, thats what I would've thought, but its actually running under the administrator account. I also though it might be the type of backup I'm running, I originally had it set to back up on a daily basis, which of course, I found out afterwards, only backs up the files that have changed that day.

So I set it to do a full backup and just schedued it for everyday.

But, I sat there and watched it and I dont even think its mounting the media correctly.

Where-as if I start it manually, works fine.

Please post the command line arguments from the scheduled task.

Havent looked at this for a while asI've been busy with other things, but its still an issue at my site. I've found the command line argument and it is as follows.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\Backup.bks" /n "Media created 09/06/2006 at 11:43" /d "Set created 09/06/2006 at 11:58" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:eek:n /m normal /j "Backup" /l:s /p "4mm DDS"

I've got a sneaking suspision that it might be something to do with it requiring input from the user. It runs through and gets to the point that would usually come up with "This tape has got data on, would you like to over write yada yada"

So I'm not sure if there's something in the argument I need to change so it doesn't ask?

Any thoughts guys?
