When I flip through different records on a form in my database, the computer's resources are devoured until Access declares that there is not enough available resources to update the display. Is there any way to force Access into releasing these resources? Even when I close Access, the resources consumed by the program are not released.

i've got the same problem. Does anybody know how to fix it. I put an extra 128meg of RAM hoping it would fix the problem, but it still does it!

I had the same problem with Access 2000. If your not using 2000 stop reading here but if yuo are using 2000 this could help.

The problem was in the form background. I had used one of the standard wizard backgrounds. These backgrounds were created by MS as gif types, requiring converting during each display and eating up your memory. The knowledge base at MS suggests you upgrade your SR level to correct the problem. As an alternative removing the form bacground by deleting the reference in the form property and selecting a solid color form background solved the problem for me.

Thanks! The problem was with the built-in backgrounds. Changing the .gif background to a .bmp, eliminated all the problems with resource consumption. Thank you very much fpdkris for the help and the reference to the MS knowledge base. I suspect Dav43 will be able to resolve the same problem by following the instructions given by Microsoft.
