Hello,

I am looking for a copy of the CAL.PDF file.

Client Application Loader (CAL) File
Specification (MD0003.061), available as CAL.pdf in the \Support\sdk
folder on Disk 2 of the RES 3.2 CDs.

If anyone could post it for me, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Still looking for this document.

I'd appreciate it if someone could share it.

Thanks

Hi Pat,

Hope you are still reading this thread. Thanks for the CAL info. I've been playing around and got most everything working with my E7 system.

I do have a couple of questions.

First, is there a recommended way to "wipe" a terminal and reinstall via CAL? I want to be able to play with some different CAL packages, but then reset the terminal if I screw it up somehow.

I know there is a WCF.EXE utility on the \DOC\ folder that will wipe the compact flash, but I don't know if that will prevent the CAL from re-initializing the WS?

Second, Have you ever setup CAL to install a separate package? I wanted to be able to select a package to install from the reconfigure CAL option on the WS. But even after I created the package on the CAL server, the option did not show up in my drop down.

What I am trying to do is create a 2nd package that can be installed on 1 workstation in a multi workstation setting. It looks like there is an option when you reconfigure CAL to select the package you want to install. I tried to create the PackageList.dat and setup.dat files. I think I created the package successfully, because it seemed to get copied to the WS, but it did it automatically, and I am trying to get it to prompt.

Thanks again

Hey jraymond,

The WCF utility is safe to use. It will clear or reformat the compact flash card but leaves the system storage, including CAL, alone, kind of like formatting a 2nd hard drive on a pc. I use this whenever I apply a service pack, move a terminal to another station, and when a workstation just starts acting up.

I've had mixed success with add-on CAL packages, but haven't really had to work with it much. I did try using the prompt for a secondary package but never got it to work.
