Hello all...

Can someone please let me know if WinStation will work on a 3700 3.2 system, please. Also, in regards to using it, what else needs to be done other than installing it and configuring it?

Also, can someone tell me what SarOps stands for, and what exactly it does?

Thanks!

I've figured out that SarOps stands for Stand Alone Resiliency. It acts as a backup server when your main server goes off-line. I actually learned a significant amount regarding SarOps, so if anyone has any questions... fire away!

I still have that open question... Will WinStation work on a 3700 3.2, or even RES 4.0? And if so, what specifics should I be aware of?

Thanks!

i need to setup a backup server! any detailed instructions?

Winstation is one of the Ops clients for the Micros 9700 system, and no, it won't work with RES. It's a basically a thin client application working in conjunction with an Ops process running on the server, and architecture that the 3700 does not offer.

All RES POS clients are SAR clients, in offline mode they store transactions in flat files on the clients and replay them to the server when they are reconnected. However, SAR functionality is somewhat limited. In many RES installations BSM (Backup Server Mode) is typically configured to allow for more robust functionality in the event the primary server goes down.
