Good Evening/Morning All!

As many of you are aware, we took over a location with Micros 3700 and, after getting the configuration setup correctly, it works great! One of the corporate sales guys called and said they are going to be in the area in a month or so and asked if we were interested in upgrading to "RES 5" and Windows 7. Not sure of cost, but they said they would give us a discount since we are technically a new customer and are also adding another terminal.

My question for you all is... Is the upgrade to Micros 5 worth it? What odes it do differently than 4.9? (This is Micros 3700).

Thanks and Have a Great Night!

From what I understand Res 5 is more of an upgrade of technology than features. It'll certainly open options for customization and new features.

Windows 7/2008 instead of XP/2003
Sybase upgraded from v9 to v11
Crystal reports upgraded from v9 to v11 (finally!)
.Net upgraded from 1.1 to 3.5 (again, finally!)

I know there are a few more but can't think of them off the top of my head.

Res 4.9 has integrated logins; they were introduced in Res 4.4

You don't really get any new features. There are a few creature comforts you get, but outside of that *shrugs*
The big thing of course is that you will be compliant longer and capable of staying compliant longer (as all of the new stuff is going to be coming out Windows 7/Server 2008 only).

Thanks for the replies, all! Micros actually is offering a free upgrade to it and upgrading the Server to Win7 with a new tower since this is the only location we use Micros with and the rest were NCR. Thanks again!
