I am hoping someone can help me. I need a sample database for MICROS RES 5.0 3700. I was hoping for something that already had basic touchscreens designed. I would like to recover this database on to a demo machine in a lab environment for testing purposes. It would save me a lot of time. It is all right if it has totals and such and is not clean. It's also o.k. if it is borrowed from a current working install. I will take anything I can get.

Thank you Moreglen for your incredibly fast response. I hope this will have what I need to do my troubleshooting. Is there a password to access the configurator?

Moreglen do you have the proper Server Name/IP address for that sample database? So I can change my workstation and start the configurator

If you've already installed micros I would recommend against changing the name manually. Instead, you should be able to access the database directly through dbisql. Use username custom with password custom and select the dsn called Micros. Once you're in just run:

Update micros.emp_def set os_domain_name = 'new computer name' where os_domain_name <> ''

Then run

Update micros.emp_def set os_user_name = 'windows 7 user logged in' where os_user_name = 'Postec'

Changing the values in the quotes to the correct values. Now configurator should open without problem and you can change the network node setting to fit your needs without worrying about blowing up Micros.

FYI, if you don't want Ops giving your errors when you start it, I would make sure you grab the OpsDisplayUser.cfg and the Themes folder.

OpsDisplayUser.cfg goes in:

<install drive>:\MICROS\RES\POS\Etc
Themes folder drops into

<install drive>:\MICROS\RES\POS

Thanks again Moregelen for all the help. One last question. I was able to install the database on a machine that I renamed to match the server name and IP info listed in the MDShosts file. I did a new install from the CD and just selected the sample database. The database starts in control panel and shows the server and terminals, But POS configurator will not start. Configurator gives an error message that says to contact an 888 number for help. Any ideas what I should check? There was not much info in the 3700d log file other than showing the configurator starting, terminating and then shutting down. You have been a great help so far. Thanks

The reason for that is what I listed above. It uses integrated windows login. You need to set in the database the os_user_name as the username of the logged in windows user, and then set the os_domain_name to match the name of the computer.
