So I've been trying to get into the database for Micros to set up API, and to unlock some things to change tracking groups to include a new tender/media group that I've recently added. However, I have not the DBA password.

I'm the only one who does any IT work around here, anymore. My company used to have a service agreement with Micros that expired and was never renewed, so we don't have any external support for our POS and the DBA password isn't available from any of my higher-ups and I'm relatively certain they would want me to avoid reinstalling the POS by all means, and I definitely would want to avoid reinstalling the POS by all means.

The database manager can change these passwords, but I need the current password that, like I've already explained, I, nor my company, do not have. So that's not an option. However, I am aware that Micros and dealers has a tool that they don't really talk about for scenarios such as my own, but they basically don't care anymore because we don't pay them anymore.

Does anyone either know where to get this tool?

You dont need dba to unlock tracking groups. Search this forum and you will find the answer for that. Can you not access what you need in the database by using another user? The tool does exist.

I made a user, it has no permissions.

I looked for other ways to unlock tracking groups, I haven't found the answer you may be suggesting.

You have to go in to DBISQL, and change the tracking group in use value to 'F'. Eg:

update micros.trk_grp_def
set ob_grp_in_use = 'F'
where trk_grp_seq = 1

This enables the DB Navigator in Tracking Groups for you to add new ones or change the existing ones.

You then have to use Crystal Reports to track these totals to the reports.

Unless you are familiar with SQL and Crystal, I do not recommend doing this

DO NOT do this when the system is in use!

Best to do it before your day starts.
You will need a user who has access to the database. Users Micros, custom, support might work for you

I am unable to log in as those users. With the user I made, it does not give me permission to update trk_grp_def.

there is a tool called get dba try to find out it.

May I know where is your location if it is Saudi Arabia Riyadh we can help you
