Hi all,

We are in the process of migrating our back office PCs to Windows 10 Pro/Office 365. We are currently running under Windows 7 Pro/Office 2010. We also recently upgraded our Micros 3700 to version 5.6 MR1.

I ran WIN Cal on one of the new Windows 10 Pro PC and successfully installed Micros 3700 on it. I have access to POS Configurator/Manager Procedures/AutoSequences And Reports etc. All is running without any issues.
When I try to access the Micros DB under Excel 365 (Data Tab, Get Data -> From Other Sources -> From Microsoft Query) the Micros* DB is not listed there any longer. (Unlike Windows 7 Pro/Excel 2010 where the Micros* DB is listed there).

Is there any specific settings or any additional software to install under Windows 10 Pro/Excel 365 to access the Micros DB? We use a lot of SQL queries in Excel and I need to be able to run them in the new Windows 10 Pro environment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Update:
So it turns out the Office 365 version I installed was the 64 bits one. My Office 2010 is the 32 bits one.
So I installed Office 365 32 bits version and now I can see the Micros* DB in Excel from the Data Tab, Get Data -> From Other Sources -> From Microsoft Query.

Does anyone knows how to access the Micros* DB when using the 64 bits version of Excel? Any specific setting or driver that need to be installed ?

Many Thanks

Hi,

If you don't have the x64 odbc driver for sql anywhere, you can download client here .
After install driver launch the ODBC (64 bits) and configure manually (like 32bits) a data source système "micros".

this should work.

Thanks for the suggestion Regis.

Under Windows 10 Pro, when I go to the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools and i look under both "ODBC Data Sources (32-bit)" and "ODBC Data Sources (64-bit)", the Micros DB is listed under both modules under the "System DSN" tab with Name=Micros, Platform=32-Bit and Driver=SQL Anywhere 17.
So the SQL drivers are there. And if go to the "Configure" window the "Test Connection" works properly when i enter the required login credential under both the ODBC 32bit and ODBC 64 modules.

So this lead me to believe there is something specific to Excel 365 64-bits that need to adjusted/setup.

Thanks again

Good Morning Folks,

Any Excel 64-bits/Micros DB expert in house that could assist?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Are sure that you DSN System is a 64bits. You have to create one expressly. I have no Office 365 x64 installed, only 32 for test, but you must have two connections distinct. see attached

In your answer the "Platform=32Bits" it should be x64 to see it in x64 Excel or other program x64....

Thanks again Regis.
It looks like Micros installation does not add any of the 64 bits drivers. When I tried to follow you suggestion I could not find the "SQL Anywhere 16" drivers under ODBC (64 bits) they are only listed under ODBC (32 bits).

Any idea where I can download the "SQL Anywhere 16" 64 bits driver ?

Cheers

The link I provided
chargtx86x64sqlAnywhere_j57ywh.jpg
install both normaly.

Have you launched the odbc manager 64 bits C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe ? and do you see this :
sqlAnywhereOdbc_dhfpbt.jpg

If you haven't, download version 17. it Work fine to request a version 16. When you install you have the choice if you ask a specific installation.

It will only remain to create the connection "Micros" by selecting the driver sql Anywhere 17 ....

Regis M.,

Apologies for the late answer but downloading the sql Anywhere 17 drivers and setting up the connection did the trick.
Many Thanks.
