I am trying to install the MICROS client application loader (CAL) on a windows xp (32bit) desktop. I am running Version 5.0 of RES. The MICROS CAL client service starts and detects the server, it then moves to the "Select WS identity" input and allows you to select the WIN32RES product to install on the workstation. After that point, the installation keeps crashing during the install. Windows gets a McrsCal.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close error.

I am installing version CAL32(3.1.2.49). It is the only one I have. Does anyone have a newer version of CAL that may work better? Much Thanks.

Did you solve this? I am having the exact same issue.

Thanks
Dan.

Chiming in to say that the Win32 CAL package does not seem to be the most stable thing out there. I have seen the client crash during installation and during normal OPS startup on both 3.1.2.x and 3.1.3.x CAL client versions.

Some things that have helped me previously - uninstall .Net 1.1 completely, make sure .Net 3.5.1 is installed and patched prior to running the CAL configure step. Also, not selecting "WIN32RES" sometimes helps. Make sure the NIC you are installing over is the first set up as well.

I've also attached a newer version of CAL - but I have seen this one crash a time or two as well.

Thank you so much for the updated CAL file, I did (yet another!) clean install of XP Pro SP3 on the workstation and ran the file you posted as soon as the installation completed. It installed the .NET etc & RES 5.1 smooth as silk from the server running WIN7.

Thanks again - You made my weekend [rednose]

Thank Djensen999, been looking for that for some time.
