We have extremely slow internet connectivity, just 5Mbps. That being used for online orders, browsing, email check, and music streaming. Unfortunately, in my area, there are no other providers but this crappy Frontier.
Trying to figure out if Micros server and Terminal use the Internet (Not the Local Network).
I understand the Credit Card processing needs internet. Anything else may need internet connectivity?
Thinking to buy a hotspot(3GB PM) just for micros and CC processing.
Any ideas or thoughts, please?
Thanks

Micros the software is likely only using internet for credit cards at your store, assuming you don’t have any kind of automated data export or mymicros running.

That being said, the computer is another story. It likely has things like Windows Update that are running in the background.

Thanks. Appreciated the quick response.

It also depends on which Micros/Oracle POS you're talking about.

e7 & 3700 operate mostly on the LAN but Simphony v2 will have a central server (often hosted by Oracle, especially on a smaller install) so is more reliant on the internet connection.

From his post history, it would appear he is using 3700, so I think he is good on that.

Yes, Moregelen.
Sorry, we have RES 3700.
Thanks again.

Yup but lots of people read these threads so just wanted to be clearer for people who might have a similar question.

KiwiNoob,
You are correct. I should pay attention next time.
Thanks for pointing out, though.
