Last night our system went a bit haywire. One of the ws crashed with a "ops.exe has encountered a serios error". The first one that went down was a ws5. It seemed to be centered around a particular check. We tried to pull up the check on another machine (this time a ws4lx) and it suddenly gave the same error and crashed. I got rid of the check and it seems to be that the problem is fixed, but I am weary. I checked the log, and there are two recurring errors:

OPS 0 Failed to open CCS Client subkey [SOFTWARE\MICROS\Common\CcsClient]

which occured for every workstation right after the beginning of the business day at 3am and then not again untill around the time we experienced the problem. I checked our old server and (running 4.3) and the registry is the same so this makes no sense to me as it doesn't pitch this error. The other error:

CCS 0 ERROR Loading [Camapp.dll]

occurs only for the server and is occuring an alarming amount this morning (read every 10 seconds)

We just upgraded from 4.3 to 4.8 and I have never had the ws crashing issue and have never noticed the errors. What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any wisdom

Aaron

I've seen this before and I think it was because the check was corrupt. Getting rid of the check should resolve the problem.

Is it possible that the check contained an item the was no longer avalable. I know in EM, if I unsubscribe an item and it is currently on a check, when I pick up that check I will get the same error.

I got rid of the check and the system is running fine. We will know in the future that if this happens, we will just dump the check.

I am still curious as to why the errors that I listed are still occuring. The error loading camapp.dll is happening about every 20 seconds, what is the source of this one?

Does anyone have any insight into the errors that I listed? The server is generating the camapp.dll error every 20 seconds, all day long. I am afraid this is going to be something serious in the future. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you
Aaron

Are you running 4.8? The issue you describing sounds like a bug. When using multiple tenders ops would crash. (unhandled exception) If so then you need to apply MR1 patch.

I think MikeRose hit the check problem right on the head. We had some overzealous office managers put expiration times on a bunch of NYE items that were way too early. When the servers tried to pick up the checks to print them, the dinner items had already expired and we got that "ops.exe encountered a serious error" message.

That ccs subkey error happens a lot if your system was upgraded and you still have old CES drivers in the CA/EDC setup.

Have you checked the verbosities for your 3700d log? That camapp.dll line may be a "normal" error that's only showing because one of the verbosity settings is cranked up.

There are 2 MR patches. HAve you applied both? (taken to MR2?)
