Hi,

We've been using a Micros 3700 system for a couple of weeks. We have only one user, as we're still getting to know the system. Yesterday, after successfully login into the POS Configurator, everywhere we try to access we get a message "You do not have read privileges for this data".

I tried using the dbisql method, but after entering the only credentials we have, i get "invalid user or password".

Please help!

If you have assigned a job code to that user and there is an employee class associated with the job code, those credentials will override the job code linked to the employee. If this is not the issue, then something must have changed in the employee setup, or configurator access file. The employee class link controls the configurator access levels. Each employee class with configurator access must be added to the configurator access file.

Thanks microslady, but i have no type of access right now, because of the *you do not have read privileges...". So I am looking for a workaround for this... Any ideas?

Have you tried custom/custom and support/support for the dbisql login? Those will usually pretty standard, unless the database was configured from scratch on a Res 5+ system.

Also, and I know this may be pretty basic, but easy things get overlooked when you're in a panic sometimes, make sure the dbisql connection is set to ODBC and that the Micros data source is selected. For some reason Res 5 defaults to "a database running on this computer" instead of ODBC.

If you are using dbisql usually "support" "support" or "custom" "custom" will get you in and you can see the user information.
This is if your database / system has been around for awhile. I don't think newer installs put these users in anymore

Dealer says it will take weeks.... not good as we have to pay our employees and the data is inaccessible.
pmegan, I'll try that ODBC, i'm pretty sure i overlooked that.
I'll use custom, support. And yes, this is an old install; the place just transferred ownership.

Thanks, will get back to you!

I want to thank everyone for their suggestions.

One of the managers new someone with experience on this, and he was able to fix this issue. (I'll try to practice on your suggestions as soon as i get a chance)

Many many thanks!

Now that you have access, remember to assign each user their own employee ID so you won't get locked out again.
