We purchased a MICROS three POS 3700 POS system at auction. We hooked it up at the office at it seems every 5-6 minutes the server (Compaq) seems to automatically shutdown. It does not just turn off, it shuts itself down, properly so to speak. Is it possible the original owners owed money and this server has a timebomb installed on it? We have all of the Micros and associated software and a Micros USB key. The Micros Res is labeled Ver 4. It does not seem to be overheating, no Blue Screen of Death. We receeded CPU, Ram, all slot cards etc. Have not replaced the power supply though.

Any advice? If we have a timebomb how do we get past that?

I would look for ups backup software.... if it can't find the battery pack it could be shutting it down?
just a thought.....

Sounds like a hardware / system problem. Have you checked the desktop power settings? Look at the system logs and check the reason for shutdown
