Can anyone tell if there is a tool or add on that I can use to customize reports for the Micros 3700. I know just enough about sql to cause problems but not enough to go that route to build custom reports

The 3700 reports are written with Crystal Reports. They only support up to version 9, but I've done some work in Crystal 10 and they worked fine.

The 3700's schema is pretty massive, so your best bet is to find a standard report that's similar to what you want and use that as a starting point. There are tons of reports in \micros\res\pos\reports to choose from. Make sure you copy it into \micros\res\pos\reports\custom before you do any editing.

We have a 3700 micros system,i tried looking into templates, but it says i cant edit the templates,or i dont have proper authnn=tication. i have proprety expert level of authorization . how i can edit or choose which report i wana print.

Are you getting that error in the Report Templates section of the configurator? Anything below #1000 is considered a system report and won't let you change it. You can add reports above #10000 and copy in the settings from an existing report, then make whatever changes you want. That's fine for changing how the system uses existing crystal templates but doesn't do much for customizing reports.

To customize a report you'll need Crystal Reports. Find the file used to generate a similar report in the Report Templates setup. It will be in the \micros\res\pos\reports folder. Copy it into the \micros\res\pos\reports\custom folder and open the copy in Crystal Reports.

If you've never used Crystal before you may want to have Micros do this for you. It's not really difficult, but it can be kind of picky and unpredictable.

pmegan is correct. Copy the report you want to start with from the system reports to reports\custom (this is for 80 column reports). Then in POSCFG go to Reports\Report Templates and create a new template (above 10,000) and link it to the report you will customize.

The trick is to look at this report and in SCJVIEW (the Sybase DBMS) create a new view and link this report to use this report.

Reports\Report templates also shows whether a report is visible in Autosequences & reports.

Alternatively you could create an SQL script, set it up as an external program, and create an autosequence to run it, and write the result to a file.

pmegan could you Email me manny@seotrafficking.net I would like to ask you some micros questions and I could pay you to look at my POS system. I am having problems running reports and the totals don't match?

thanks Manny
