What do I need to setup an IDN printer? Here is what happened. My printer is connected to rs232. It is not working. The first thing I did was connect this printer to the other work station and it worked. I tried swapping the cables out no luck. I am thinking the interface on the terminal is bad. Do I need a network controller to setup an IDN printer. What does a network controller do.

Okay I looked at the back of the terminals I have a phone cord looking thing on the idn port with a cable connected to a a 9 pin connector which connects to a bar-code scanner. Which means my kitchen printer is connected to com5 on one terminal. What do I need to setup the IDN printer interface.

create com port 5 on the terminal
set printer as IDN interface using com port 5
set IDN id to #1 (if it's the only printer)
the dip switch on the IDN card should be set to 4 on (if this is idn id #1)
the cable should be connected to idn port #1
