Micros 3700: How to set up discounts without sales tax?

Hello,

My restaurant currently offers discounts to the customers based on their pre-sales tax total.

For example, one discount we offer is $2 off $10 (pre-tax). I have set up a basic $2 discount with the minimum amount set to $10 and the maximum amount set to $500. Under the Options tab: Preset and Amount are check marked. We are currently using Micros RES 3700 Version 5.4 MR3.

If a customer orders food with a pre-tax total of $9.99 (post tax: $10.80), the $2 discount will work on this ticket. Even though the subtotal is less then $10. We have also noticed that the discounts will work with any total as long as it is more then the discounted amount. (i.e. $2 discount will work on a $2 ticket). I have not been able to set a discount to only use the subtotal amount.

The only option I have selected is under the "Restrictions" section. I have checked the "One discount per check" option in this area.

I'd think there is a way to do what you are wanting,but I would need to look at the context sensitive help for the options under each tab. Have you looked at that?

OK, Now that I have been able to look at POS configurator discounts, I think I have an answer for you, Try this...
Under the Rule Setup tab, use rule type: Total Price Threshold,
trigger with a menu item set containing all menu items,
Trigger Total = 10,
Award Type: Amount Off.
Clear the min/max fields
Amount should be 2.
