I am re-opening a restaurant with an existing Micros 3700 system. I would like to get rid of the old menu items.. When I attempt to delete a menu item I get the following error:
Key Violation. [Sybase][ODBCdriver][Adaptive Server Anywhere][Integrity constrant violation]Primary key for Row in Table'mi_def' is General SQL error. referenced in another table.

I read in another post of this forum ( that I am getting the error because I need to purge the sales for the old menu items. So I followed the instructions I found in another post
( and tried to create a puging autosequence.

When I run the autosequence, I get the following error after about 10 minutes, and I still cannot delete the menu items...
---- STARTING - PURGE HISTORICALS
==============================================
Sequence # 10001 Step # 1 <STORED PROCEDURE>
Purge Historical Totals
Sequence # 10001 Step # 1 Stored Procedure Step Error.
Error executing stored procedure.
==============================================
---- DID NOT COMPLETE ----

Thank You

Try clearing all totals first...as long as you don't need those totals Then do a database rebuild. Then try the purge. You should then be able to delete the menu items.

Thanks,

How do you clear totals and rebuild database?

Clear totals - (this gets rid of all totals so should not be done on a live site!!) Sign in to POSCONFIG and along the top you will see "Totals" tab Click on it and it will give you some options Click on "Clear All Totals" I think it prompts you with a warning you will need to click through.
Rebuild Database - sign in to "Database Manager" (Should be in your "start menu", go to "all programs", "MICROS applications", "Utilities", "Database", "Micros Database Manager" Click the box by "Rebuild Res 4.X Database" and click run

Note that both these processes can take sometime to run (as in hours) depending on database size and computer setup. Let them run to completion....don't exit out of them even if they look like they might be stalled.

When Trying to Clear Totals, I get this message...

"IT MAY NOT ME SAFE TO DO THIS WHILE OPS IS RUNNING. DO YOU WANT TO PROCEED ANYWAY?

Under my Micros Control Panel, PCWS01 is stuck on "STOPPING". "POS OPERATIONS" has a yellow circle, not a red X...

How can I get it to shut down so I can clear my totals???

Thanks

I assumed nobody was using the terminals as you are not open. To avoid anyone using the terminals take the Micros to the database level (shuts down terminal usage) If PCWS01 is stuck shutting down and has only happened once the easiest way to clear the error is just turn PCWS01 off

All my terminals are unplugged. When I completely shut down the server computer and restart, PCWS01 status is "STOPPING"

I can still use the OPS though...
