Was wondering if anyone knows if there is a call that can be made to a DLL or webservice or anything else in Micros that will allow us to create the HOSTS file from the database records without having to log into POS Configurator and going to Devices>Network Nodes> and clicking on the Update Host button?
I know that the second half of the operation is calling the copy command to copy (overwrite) the HOSTS file from Micros\Temp over to the drivers\etc folder so I know I can do that part outside of POS Configurator, but I'd also like to have the new host file made outside of logging into Configurator by calling the procedure that Micros already has written....

There is no call to a DLL that im aware of but if you have any programming experience you should easily be able to connect to the Sybase database and extract all the hostnames and ip addresses using the below SQL and build your own host file.

select lan_addr as Hostname, ip_addr as IpAddress from micros.lan_node_def

Do you want some custom SIM scripts developed. Contact me via my website

Thanks for the SQL CathalMF! That looks like the shortest path.
I can use this to write my own (which based on replies so far may be what I'll end up doing).
Was just thinking that since MICROS already has this written somewhere, I'd hook into their code.
If I roll my own I will post it here
