We have a micom 5kt pro plugged in a baystack AN router that was working a few years back. When we moved to another building we dismantled it and had it in a shelf for over a year. We want to use it now for a leased line connection to the internet and the isp guys said they don't know how to set it up. I tried Nortel's website and came up with nothing. I tried calling them up and said they stopped tech support on Baystack and Micom. Anybody out there who can help me start configuring these two? How do I start? What do I need?

BTW, I did a reset on the both Bay and Micom...what's the default IP address or default config if any...I tried downlaoding the user's guide from archive.org but I don't know what cable to connect it with my laptop...I tried hyper terminal and it wouldn't connect...help!

Connect up to either port A-1 or into the command port (if you have one). The wake-up command is "$CMD". Depending on the configuration of the 5KT will dictate how you connect to the bay-stack.

I have always connected to port A-6 (A-4 on netrunner) and set communications to 9600-8-N-1.
Class: $CMD
Password: <cr> (leave blank, no password).

My problem is I went to connect a spare unit, but the passoword has been set, and I need to reset this unit back to its defaults. It doesn't seem to have the same setup as the other units I am aquainted with (ie. the battery jumper). Anyone know how to reset one of these units?

TIA,

Andy

Hello again,

Actually, I believe that the unit has "Matrix Switching" disabled. anyone have an idea as to how to bypass/reset this?

Try disassembly and removing the battery on the motherboard. That might do the trick.

Thanks but that did not work. On this unit the battery is on a chip (and there is no hidden battery under the motherboard). I removed the chip and the battery from the chip, but all I succeeded in doing was loosing the date time configuration (and probably any routing table/info). I would still like hear if someone has other ideas or knowledge about how to reset this box.
