Hi all,
I'm planning a migration from a mcd5 cluster to mivoice business 8 + MiCollab.
Tips and guidance would be greatly appreciated as I'm new to this exercise.

Mivoice will be installed on 2 ESX clusters, 2 border gw and 2 siptrunks in 2 datacenters.
Hopefully way better redundancy as in the current setup the gw's has to be placed on top of each other ;-(
The MyCollab will at this moment only be used for synchronizing AD and Mivoice business.

To be able to have and keep stuff in our company centralised, I want to use our AD as a source to:
- sso for ipt admins in all/most Mitel servers and apps
- central phonebook in AD, so other corporate systems can use that as a source
- central phonebook in AD, so Mitel phones, Ascom dects, operators (Mivoice Business Console) can use those
- AD as a source for MyColab for all users (or department with a ddi as a AD'user') with a phonenumber,

With the last item, I would like to have all mitel-numbers as users in AD.

I also want to assign it's CLIP number to a user:
Which number is presented when he/she calls out.
It depends; own ddi, department ddi, or cooperate ddi.
Where can or should I register this? Preferable in the AD.

Preferable, I do not want to use AD extended attributes, but only Name / Display name / first and lastname/ phone number and ipphone number.

Not sure where, but would add that AD works best if all are hotdesk users

I don't think admin users can be AD accounts, they are local.
The controllers do not use AD, they have their own phonebook. Same with MiCollab.
Where you use AD is in provisioning users out of AD onto MiCollab, which creates the directory for the phone system. You should use email address as well.

When you setup the LDAP query in the MiCollab, you can assign AD attributes for phone, second phone, mobile and DID. (Among other things).
The thing you call "CLIP" is I think what Mitel calls CPN - pretty sure you can't upload that from AD, but after you provision all the users, you can upload all your CPNs very easily as follows:
Make sure the "Associated Directory Numbers" form on the MCD has at least one entry in it, then export it.
Open it in Excel.
Change the number columns format to text, or some other format that doesn't drop the leading "0".
Copy all your extensions into the Directory Number column
Copy each extension's CPN into the Associated Number column
Fill in Associated type for all entries (highlight 2 of them, then double-click the bottom right-hand corner of the highlighted area).
(Delete any numbers that were in in the form when you exported it so it doesn't re-import them - you only want to import the new numbers you just added.)
Save as csv.
Import to the MCD Associated Numbers form
Job done.
