Hi all.

I would like to upgrade micc from 6 to 9 and keep the reports intact. Can I please get a high level description of the procedure.
I have only done fresh installations and never an upgrade.
Thank you.

I would check the release notes, you may have to run some lower levels before getting there. First I would check hardware requirements. But it should be just running what installers you need in the correct order

As well as the MiCC upgrade (which you will have to do in a few steps) you will most likely also have to look at upgrading the MSSQL.

yep this is not a task to be perfomed by someone with limited experience
better to contact an experienced support person
- you will need to jump to a higher version of 6 and then i think to a version of 8 on a different operating system with different SQL version before going to 9

i have done this before by taking the data and loading on a test server and jumping through multiple hops and then going back to a new 2019 server with latest SQL express and restoring the updated data there , not a process that can easily be explained

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

I have one more last question. What happens to the MICC and SQL installation on the server as it is changed from Windows 2012 to 2019? Does both MICC and SQL remain intact for them to be upgraded in the mentioned stages? Does the server not get formatted during the Windows OS upgrade?

This will require both a step upgrade & side by side upgrade.

In a nutshell, from memory here are the steps -
WS 2012 is compatible up to version MiCC 8.0 and so is SQL 2012
So you will need to step up the server using step up upgrade method frm MiCC 6.0 to 8.0.

Then you will need to build a separate server WS 2019 with at least SQL 2014
Then you load the backup from the MiCC 8.0 together with the Data Files
Then you re-summarise data for reporting.
