I am currently in the process of installing a CS1000S system. I have the Call Server talking directly to the MG1000. I have the Call Server connected to the ELAN. I have the MC-8(VGMC) connected to both a TLAN and ELAN. Problem is that I think a card might be defective, because the connection between the MG1000S SSC Card and ELAN just isn't working. I have connected port 1 of the MG1000 SSC to the ELAN, but the port switch does not even light up. I have tried using a cross-over and same thing. Reading thru the documentation, it says that the LED's on the SSC, on the actual card, should light up green when a connection is present. The main problem is that the LED is always green. If the ethernet is plugged in or not and want to confirm with someone if this LED might be a power led, but from the documentation, specifically pg 50 of the 553-3031-500 document entitled Communication Server 1000S: Maintenance, it says that the LED should only be green on an established ethernet link.

Sorry for the long question

you may have a bad card, if the light is always green then you have a problem.. as long as the ip and default gateway is programed you should be able to ping the far end

Here is a picture of the LEDS is question. Again, the LED is currently on and there is not CAT5 cable attached to the required port. Actually, for this picture, all CAT5 cables were disconnected from the entire chassis.

Did enabled the E-LAN for the MG?
When PRT HOST in LD 117 you may have a HOST name for that MG

Then ENL ENLK "MG name" x (x is the MG number)

Then STAT ELNK may show you the ELNK of the CS+MG

Refer to thread798-1281145

When I do PRT HOST, I get the following
Call Server/Main Cabinet
ID Hostname IP Address
1 SECONDARY_ENET 137.135.128.254
2 LOCAL_PPP_IF 137.135.192.4
3 REMOTE_PPP_IF 100.1.1.1
4 CS_ELAN 10.10.10.186

No database file exists for Media Gateway/Expansion Cabinet #1

No database file exists for Media Gateway/Expansion Cabinet #2

No database file exists for Media Gateway/Expansion Cabinet #3

No database file exists for Media Gateway/Expansion Cabinet #4
OK

How do I create a new databse file for MG#1?

Thanks

LD 117
NEW HOST MG1 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1 for the Media gateway 1
CHG ELNK ACTIVE MG1 1
PRT HOST to check
CHG SURV 1 YES to give survivalibity to cabinet 1
PRT SURV to check

Then on next EDD the databse of main cabinet will be transmitted to cab 1 and backed up on it

Thats great. Thats exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks
Mathew
