I have a gateway that has a DS1 board that shows "no board" although there is a board inserted. We have new and old boards into an empty slot and can see that the card is good. I am thinking its the MG, what are your thoughts?
Need to know CM version and current service pack your system is running. Avaya had known issues with software corruption involving DS-1 boards in G-700 & G-450 media gateways under certain conditions.
Perhaps move the board to a different slot and eliminate it being the slot in the chassis. Or you should be able to remove the board in software. I know with g650's the command was cha circuit-pack. I'd also do a list usage on that board in case you can't remove it and there are translations elsewhere in the system that need to be removed first.

Gateways show boards automagically. If you know your board is in slot 4 of gateway 5 and list conf med 5 shows no board in slot 4, log in to your media gateway.
show faults
show mm
in the output of show mm, you'll probably see 'initializing' or 'insertion failure' - or possibly no board.
reset mm v4 will hard reset the slot. Try the module in another slot, validate any other module works in slot 4, and resign yourself to knowing you have a defective module or slot!
We ran into something this a once and went around and around with it. Put the board in a G350 and it worked every time, and in some slots on the 430 it worked every time, other slots were intermittent.... Long story short, once we screwed the board in all the way, it was seen reliably every time. There's a slight standoff with the captive thumbscrews on some boards and it's enough to cause the pins to not make contact on the backplane.
SOLN216773 New G450 can’t recognize old MM boards. When the old MM boards are inserted into the new gateways they are not fully seated. The older boards have a slight tilt in the connectors and when inserted into the new gateways we need to make sure they are fully seated.
