Hi all,

I have a report in which filters are embedded into the metric condition. This report also has drilling capability to another template by clicking on the metric value(version 7.5.x).Right now i am unable to include this filter condition while drilling to new template.
is it possible to include the filter qualifications embedded into the metric in the drilling ? if so, is there any setting i have to set?

Thanks,

This is probably not what you are looking for but I have the same problem. From what I can tell there is no way to pass the filter criteria from a conditional metric to a template.

The only way around it is to use custom groups with vanilla metrics. The filter criteria from the Custom Group will be passed to the template. It may be a little slower but you will get the functionality you need.

Hi kpescatore,

thanks for your prompts response.

In my case i have multiple metrics on the same report which are all counts on some criteria.I have set these metrics to OUTERJOIN in order to retain even the null value metrics. The user will click on these counts which will take then to another template that will display what that count is made up of.

If i use custom group as you have suggested,is it still be possible to have outer joins on the metrics?

Once again Thanks.

You won’t need to outer join the metrics because there is no final pass of SQL. The final join is handled in an analytic pass by the IServer.

Depending on the filters you use a null result may not be displayed. So if there are no values returned for a specific group that group will not be displayed, but the other groups with data will. I've never played with it enough to say you can't force a value to return but by default it won’t.

Hope this helps

I'm assuming you are using report services document? If so check out this knowledge base article.

Dynamic Drilling in MicroStrategy Web 7.5.1 documents enable passing selected attribute elements from the source document to the target.

There are also rumors the next release will let you specify template, filter and prompt selections in the drill URL so you should be able to pass metric filter and chosen metric value into the drill target.
