Methods of bundling T1s

I have recently begun to work with IMA circuits, inverse multiplexing over ATM. I understand that this great for sites that need more than T1 speeds, but not requiring T3. My question is what are the other methods (if any) of bundling/imuxing T1 lines together and the advantages/disadvantages of each method? Is IMA the most popular/cheapest, etc?

Also, is there specific hardware that is required for each router series or do they all use the same cards/modules?

Any input is appreciated.

cheapest and easiest way is Multilink PPP..

ATM gear is expensive and requires specialize hardware.. Multilink PPP uses standard serial interfaces..

I agree with Buckweet that multilink groups are your best solution. However most providers are now offering Internet access over metroE and there is always the option of fractional DS3's.

You get what you pay for! If you choose IMA circuits make sure that you use CBR rather than VBR.... The ultimate question you need to ask is what is available and how much you are willing to spend!!!!!

Some people are like slinkies. Not really good for anything but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Thanks for the responses. I work on the ISP side, my task is just configuring the circuits and I was curious what the other options were. The circuits eventually connect to an MPLS VPN. This is my first exposure to ATM.
