PLease can anyone help me. For no arranet reason errors have started occuring when I try to use Access 2000. THe errors occur in numerous places for example when starting a wizard or Link Manager. The error message references different Methods but always refers to the _Application object. THe error I get for example is Method 'DBEngine' of object '_Application' failed. I cannot do anything once this message has occured on that function.

I have tried rebooting, repair and reinstall Access 2000.

I am at a loss please can someone help.

Did you ever solve this problem? I am getting it in Access 2002.

Thanks,
Cathy

The original post mentioned wizards and the Linked Table Manager, which is actually also implemented as a wizard. Does this only occur when running complex built-in functions? If so, it might be related to one of the add-in libraries UTILITY.MDA, ACWZTOOL.MDE, or ACWZMAIN.MDE.

If you have multiple versions of Access installed, perhaps the wrong version is being used. Try uninstalling and reinstalling both versions, earlier version first.

What are some of the other methods that fail? Are they all related to Jet? Perhaps the wrong version of Jet is listed in the References.

Has the database recently been converted to another version of Access? Try decompiling it: On the Start menu, click Run, then key in the complete path to msaccess.exe in quotes, a space, the complete path to the database in quotes, a space, and /decompile not in quotes. For example:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\msaccess.exe" "C:\My Documents\MyDb.mdb" /decompile

Thanks for your help on this.

What I ended up having to do was to Run Regsvr32.exe to Register the DAO360.dll file. Thanks again. (Next time I will remember to click the box that says e-mail notification.)

Cathy,

i have just spent 3 hours trying to find the solution to my problem. It is now almost midnight. Finally, i came across this post.

I am using Access97, so i went to Start, Run and typed:
Regsvr32.exe C:\progra~1\common~1\micros~1\dao\dao350.dll

and ALL MY PROBLEMS ARE SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you.

Rick, Thanks also for writing. I read your suggestions too and would have tried them next, but Cathy's worked.

I don't know what happened, since this user was using this database for about 2 years, then all of a sudden, he got the 'method current db of object _application failed' and also 'method code db of object _application failed.'

But running the regsvr32 worked.

Thanks again!
