Hi all,

Has anyone else seen a problem where everytime you log onto your citrix servers the local client's floppy drive is accessed causing a annoying noise ?

I get this during logon and in every single application when I click on 'File' 'Open' etc such as word / excel / access.

I checked Microsoft and changed the Registry setting to prevent access on logon but this seemed to make no difference.

I did not have this problem on my old NT4 Citrix Servers.

Servers are running W2k SP2 - with Metaframe 1.8 SP3

Any ideas would be great!

Regards,
Neil

Update.

After lots of looking down the official citrix forums it seems this is a know problem - I have seen many posts from citrix saying further investigation inhouse is needed .

Other methods to use net use a: /delete etc which i cant really do.

Still if anyone knows of another method or workaround that would be great!

Seen this quite a lot.....I initially thought it was caused by Client Drive being set for the user, this function "polls" each of the client drives in turn and makes them available in Explorer.....but is it happening even if Client Drive is turned off....???

Thanks for the response Highland

I will test it with this option and respond

Neil

Is there a INI file setting for the client to disable drive mapping ?

I dont want to disable the option in Citrix Connection Configuration as this may affect some of my remote users.

TIA
Neil

U can set this on a per-user basis, start User Manager for Domains on a Citrix Server Console, select the User Name, select the "Config" button, the top right on this Config window has options for Client Devices, the top option here indicates if the Client Connection will "enable" local drive access within the Citrix Session......

Hope this is what ur looking for.....????

I'm sure there was a post in this forum a couple of months ago where this setting didn't appear to be causing the "problem", I'm sure it was titled 2noisy drive at logon" or something similar....????
