Can someone tell me a a freeware which will allow a CAD Administrator to send instant messages to selected CAD users?

Hi,

If you're all on a network, a really quick and easy way to send messages is the command prompt NET SEND command. This is like instant messaging over a network - and it's more discreet than an email and is virtually instant, plus, you don't need any software to do it. The only down sides of it are that it can be only text and it's limited to a certain number of characters (about 80 I think)..

To send a NET SEND message, you'll need to know the IP address of the computer you're sending to (ask your adminstrator to find this out for you).
Then initiate the Command Prompt command to get into DOS (should be in the Start Menu on your desktop under Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt.

Then at the command prompt, type the following as an example:

Format:
NET SEND [IP address] message

Like:

NET SEND 192.168.0.213 Hello there, just sending a message to you!!

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Paul @ basepoint designz..
