After I send an email, I like to click and drag that message from the sent folder to another folder. However, the message still remains in the sent folder. Is there an option/preference that I can set so that the message is deleted from my Sent box when I move it?

Thanks,

Smitty

A better way to do this is instead of using "Send" use "Send and File" this way the message gets sent and you are prompted to move the message to a folder that you select from the list.

Messages appear in the "Sent" view by default and I'm pretty sure you cannot change this.

After you have sent and filed you can go to your sent folder and select the message. When you hit delete you will get a prompt to select one of two options.

1. Delete the message (warning, this will delete the message from the sent folder AND any other folders that the message displays in.)
2. Remove the message from the "Sent" folder.

If you use send and file and then option 2 above I think this will help you out.

Don't think of the folders as folders but rather view filters on all documents. Sent will always show you all sent messages. I always use "Send and File" and the message shows up in the folder I selected, but it still remains in the Sent folder/view - unless I filed it in Trash.

This is an annoying thing in Notes.
The Sent folder is not a folder but a "View" and this causes it.
The standard "Send and File" button is no solution for this because the memo also ends up in the Sent view.

If users want to clean up their Sent items they never know if they need to choose "Delete" or "Remove" unless they can remember for each mail if they stored it in a folder or not.
So the prompt when deleting e-mails is also a bad workaround from Lotus.

We fixed it :

1/
Modify the "Send and File" button so that after filing a memo in a folder the memo does not appear in the Sent Folder but only in the folder chosen by the user.

2/
Add a QueryAddToFolder event to the Sent view to remove the memo's from the Sent view. This way when a user drags memo's from the Sent view to another folder they are removed from the Sent view automatically.

The result is that the Sent view only shows memo's that are not stored in any other folder. They are therefore safe to delete when a users whishes to do so.

This is the way people expect it to work. I wonder why Lotus can not think of this....
