Messages are remaining unread

After reading a messages and closing it, the message is still showing as an unread message. Is this a setting in Outlook 2000 or is it a setting on Exchange 5.5?

Can you further define what you mean by the message stays unread. Does this mean that the envelope icon does not change, that it stays bold faced or that it stays in the Autopreview mode?

This will all be controlled in Outlook. I would say check your views but I am not certain as to the symptom you are seeing. joegz

The messages are staying bolded. It is only happening to X.400 messages not SMTP.

go to tools, options,read (tab) and check
Mark message read after diplaying for.....

Where do you see a read tab under tools options? I can not find anything to check that say Mark message read after displaying.
