I have an Option 81C with Octel 250 Voicemail.
Yesterday morning there was a power surge in the building which caused 2 of my controller cards to get hungup. My vendor reset the cards within an hour.
My issue is that I am getting calls from users that they had voice messages from yesterday afternoon but no message waiting light was turned on. Today the Message Waiting Light was on with messages from yesterday not today. It's not all phones with the problem. I checked what TN's and these were TN's that were not on the hungup controller cards.

I am assuming that when the Nightime process runs that it released the MWA signal and that's why the MWA light was on.
Could someone explain to me how a message routes to Octel which then sends a signal back to the switch?

I need to find answers to explain to Management.

Thanks!

the octel uses 2616 (soft and hard) internally.. those stations have a key to turn lights on and off. octel takes the msg, the sends the msg on sig.. you get a glitch, light goes out, octel does not have a way to do a lamp audit.. it has it's internal os to tell it lamp status so it will only query it's database to see the lamp status.. even if it's off due to a glitch, the octel see it as on and will never change the status until the msg status changes..

i have always thought that it is cleaner to match system with apps.. you can add a key to any station that turns lamps on and off... you can also do a trac the tn to see the msg status remote..

the only sure fire cure you or your vendor could offer is to power cycle the octel and the switch, post repair... that puts the lamps back to sync

On the Octel get them to re-run the lamp audit. This will force the lamps on for any mailbox with unread messgages. It will then get the system back in Synch.

Duffo666,

I have administrator rights on the Octel 250. Could you tell me how to run the Audit and if I run this utility will it stop any incoming messages?

Thanks!
