Message waiting light across Tie line

I have a site that used to be an Option 11E, it was just replaced with a CS1000E, Rls 5. It has a Tie line between it and a Option 61c. The CS1000E is a very small office, so it uses the 61C sites voicemail ( Octel ). Since the install, we cannot get the message waiting lights to work.

I have checked :

Package 175 NMS is there
PNI's match
4 digit dialing works fine
Checked RDB, CDB, DCH and CFN, all look good

I have switchroom phones in both locations with MIK's ( message indicator key )on them. From the CS1000E switchroom phone, I can use the MIK and light a phone at the 61c site. From the 61c site, I try and use the MIK and it will not work. I am convinced the problem is at the new CS1000E, but cannot figure it out !

I also have two other CS1000E's that have Tie lines to the same 61c, and can use the 61c's switchroom phone and light a light at the other locations. What am I missing ?

Check the RCAP on the D channel. compare it to a site that works correctly.

Thanks Eddie, I forgot to mention the RCAP's are the same ( ND2 ).

If you are using SL1 as the D-Channel protocol, you should have MWI in the RCAP on both ends of the D-Channel config.

Also, on the CS1000e site, in the CDB make sure you have MCI in the Options, and define an ACD queue with MWC = YES.

None of the other sites that work have MWI on the RCAP, and we are using SL1 for the protocol. I changed both sides anyway ( to try it ), as well as added MCI in the FTR options ( CDB ). I also changed an existing ACD Q to MWC=yes. It still does not work. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Eddie don't tempt me ! :) Actually the CS1000E is running well, other then this issue. ( knocks on wood )

Have you tried turning on D-Channel messaging?

You should see NMS messages coming from the voice mail site. These are the MWI messages.

You should be able to see NMS messages by using your MIK/MCK keys to test a MWK key at a remote site.

Is the administration similar to the options for the CS1000?

you didn't say if you could turn on a light locally using the mik key on the 1000E?

Also check:

in the cdb- under ims_data, ims yes, ima yes;

I turned on DCH messaging for both sites ( good idea Allenmac ). I am dialed into the CS1000 remotely, and sitting in front of the 61c terminal, here is what I see when I use the MIK to try and turn a light on at the CS1000 site :

61C site :

DCH 1 OMSG Facility REF 0000000 CH 0 TOD 16:02
FEAT : NMS

DCH 1 IMSG FAC REJ Ref 0000000 CH 0 TOD 16:02
FEAT : NMS

So as suspected, the far end site is rejecting it. On the far end CS1000 I see no incoming messages on the DCH when trying this test. The puzzle continues !

Can you post your CDB, RDB, D-Channel config, and anything else you think might help?

I also noticed the CS1000 DCH is not showing ANY incoming or outgoing messages, even when I make a call over there. Strange...

Are you sure the calls are actually going over the Tie, and not being re-routed through other facilities?

Use your own phone and do a trac on your DN in LD 80 to see what route your going out on.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

I should also mention, that on the CS1000e, you will need to enable D-channel messaging output to your TTY, syslog, or both.

>ld 96
DCH000
.enl mon tty
.stat mon
TRACE OUTPUT
DCH LOG : OFF
DCH TTY : ON
ACTIVE TRACES
DCH 052 : MSGI - DSBL MSGO - DSBL
DCH 201 : MSGI - DSBL MSGO - DSBL (UIPE)

.

Without this you will not get any D-Channel messages from the E.

I can turn on a light locally at the CS1000 location using the MIK. I am certain the calls are going out over the Tie, the DCH messaging was not turned on to output to the TTY ( as allenmac posted ), that is why I was not seeing anything. I have left the site, but will be back there Monday am. Thanks guys.

I can now see the DCH rejection on both ends as soon as I hit the MIK key and try and light the light. Here is the error on the CS1000 end, it looks the same on the 61C side :

DCH 3 IMSG FACILITY REF 00000000 CH 0 TOD 12:17:21
FEAT :NMS

DCH 3 OMSG FAC REJ REF 00000000 CH 0 TOD 12:17:21
FEAT :NMS

DCH 3 IMSG FACILITY REF 00000000 CH 0 TOD 12:17:27
FEAT :NMS

DCH 3 OMSG FAC REJ REF 00000000 CH 0 TOD 12:17:27
FEAT :NMS

And here is the DCH, RDB, and CDB of the CS1000.
