We are currently experiencing a problem where the message waiting lamp remains on even when there are no messages left in voicemail. I've cleared/refreshed the MWL and it seems to work sometimes. This problem is occuring on approximately 20% of the phones.

The problem began when we upgraded our voicemail license from 6-port to a 12 port license card.

Any ideas on this problem.

Thanks.

One other thing. This system is a 3.0 Processor & 3.0 Messaging.

Thanks.

When they upgraded your number of ports - they probably did not administer the extra ports that the voice mail module now has in the system. Make sure the extra ports are included in your voice mail calling group. You will also have to administer the extra port extensions to make them rotary enabled. It is the last port in the voice mail module that turns on and off the message lights - and it has to be rotary enabled to work the message lights. If you are using outcalling - the ports that two that are also probably outward restricted - you need to check that as well.

On a 12 port system, the last 2 port are the ones that control the MW lites. They didn't get "rotary enabled" when the card was swapped out to the larger one. Just had the same exact problem with a customer, another SC changed the card, Avaya couldn't (wouldn't) help the customer find out his problem.
