Message Waiting "Flex Button" is forwarding to another extension???

I have a peculiar situation with my NSX2000/NS1000 system. We have a generic voice mailbox set up at one of our sites for people who call off. The extension is 42901. So our receptionist and one other person have flex buttons set up with Message Waiting for ext 4200. All is well when a voice message is left in mailbox 42000. However, when there are no messages, the light stays lit and pressing it rings another different extension (42258)! I cannot find any indication of a link in any of either extension's parameters. But if someone leaves a message in 42901 (there is no physical phone attached to that extension) it will connect and play the message. But when the messages are played/deleted, the button then rings that other extension. Any ideas??

Thank you in advance,

It is likely an 'extension message waiting.'

If a user calls the extension, and presses the message button it turns the light on. Calling the extension should turn it off when the far end answers. You can also press the message button followed by cancel when on hook.
