Problem:
Trying to setup faxing so users can fax from desk. Faxing to outside numbers does not work. When I put in any of the following and press Enter:
98179991234
98179991234@fax
8179991234@fax
I get the same error message: "Address is not valid. Check the number you entered."

I can send faxes to 4 digit extensions so faxing is enabled and working.
I can receive faxes from outside fax machines.

I have checked the COR for my Audix ports in the switch and they are set to allow outcalling to local numbers.

What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Same thing. MM or Audix does not like the numbering format for some reason.

In Audix, using the SA logon ID, check the following settings:

change system-parameters fax-options
Code:
                         SYSTEM-PARAMETERS FAX

Fax Extended Dialing Enabled? y

Fax Server Name: FAX

Fax Deliveries To All The Specified Dial Strings Are Allowed/Denied: denied

add fax-dial string
Code:
                             FAX-DIAL-STRING

THIS FAX DIAL STRING WILL BE DENIED

Fax Dial String:

IF you have "Denied" in the system-para screen, make sure that the number that you are trying to fax to is not in the Fax Dial String to be denied. My setup is to have "Denied" but to have the Dial String screen blank - meaning that nothing is denied.

Thank you!! I programmed both fields as instructed but still get the same error message.

I still get this error in MM. Does not matter if I use 98177635598@fax, or without the 9 or without the @fax

Thank you for the help. We are at least getting somewhere.

Sorry, figured it out...case sensitive.
Gotta be @FAX.

We are all good now.

Thank you for your help.
