The search doesn't seem to be working well... But, simple question.

I know this was talked about, but what is the "proper" procedure for replacing 1 user with another.

User A leaves the company and is replaced by User B, same extension. Everytime I do this, the Message Waiting Light is stuck on until I remove the extension and user and recreate the account.

I have tried changing the name to Extn2240 then merge, then changing that to the users name and merge again. MWI doesn't go out. Happens probably 75% of the time.

Reset password and delete messages, then change user.

I agree, if you rename the user first then the message light gets stuck until you reboot, this sucks but I guess it is just one of those little annoying things with the IPO.

It is a Pain..

What I do is to delete the account 1st the stop and restart VM services.. Then change the user name.

I'd really like there to be a way to do this without service interruption. Seems kind of ridiculous.

I've tried that code in the past, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Why don't you have them clear the messages first. If they don't know the password, clear it and have them reset it and check. Then change the name and clear the password again.

My biggest issue with this is that Manager doesn't give you the option of seeing the password.

I try and change the accounts with as little user intervention as possible. Maybe I'm being too nice.

Also, check out Snad Boy's Revelation, it will let you see VM Passwords in Manager

just tried it on 406v2 running 4.1.9 and I lit the msg light on a 4412 with the first shortcode, then the display shows MSG=1, then I tried to take it off again but instead of that it displays in the display msg=0 and when I go into the menu/menu/msg settings on the phone it shows msgs=1 and I have two of them then I scroll to the next one over and it shows Msgs=0.
I programmed a drop button and I couldn't get rid of the message, that was the only button that made sense right now.
Any other ideas besides reboot?

do you actually have all these CQ's memorized, or how do you come up with them so fast.
I wouldn't even think of looking on it for that when I just quickly test something on my system here.
I don't see it in the list for being fixed in Q1 release so maybe I just downgrade it to 4.0 and try it again.

You could try to downgrade, delete the mailbox and upgrade again
Then it should be gone

I downgraded to 4.0.7 (then checked for any CQ's that have the same problem and didn't find any) and it is still not working, the messagelight stays lit and the messages stay in the phone I can only change it to msgs=1 or msgs=0 with the shortcode.
So I guess I will still keep deleting the messages then rename the users

I tried to just delete without lighting it first on a 2410 and it will only light the light and put msgs=0 into the display, I guess I just upgrade again and let this go for now.
