My client in Pasadena,Ca (not that the location matters)has a R7.0 Merlin system with 007 VM. One of the extensions is having a problem with the message light remaining on after VM has been checked. I need help and advise on trouble shooting this problem.
Thank You!

At the phone, press Menu, then Messages, to see what caused the light to come on. It may have be another extension accidently doing it. If so, delete the message.

Now, if it came from the voice messaging system, that extension may be the message waiting receiver for a General Mailbox or a Calling Group, and you'll need to check the programming in the 007 for General Mailbox owners and the Legend for Calling Group MW receivers.

Thanks touchtonetommy that work great. I simply went to the phone press menu, then messages and there it was another extension.

Still not sure why this happen? Can you please explain how this happen?

Thanks Again!!!!

The feature code to send a message to another extension, without actually calling that other extension, is Feature 53.

To use it, you dial Feature 53, and then dial the other extension number.

You can also do it by going off hook on a SA button, getting internal dial tone, and dialing #-53 and the other extension number.

Sometimes, people trying to place an outside call miss the "9" and hit "#" instead.

Do you have local telephone numbers that start with 53 and a string of digits that match your extension numbers?

nothing is more unpredictable then people using phones it seems, you would think that after over 100 years of phones people would have found out how they work, WRONG.

Have a good weekend all
