Hello,
I don't think this is possible but I figured I'd ask in here anyway. Avaya IPO 9.1 was installed at one of our sites replacing their old phone system. One question that was just asked to me afterwards was is there a way to have a message play when you call someone if they're on another call? Something like "Kyle is currently on a call right now". I guess their old phone system had that feature so they're so used to using it. I know that they can use user buttons to tell the status of someones phone but I figured I'd ask here first in case you guys know something I don't. Thanks.

Well, i don't know how they call it on another system but for Avaya it is called "VoiceMail".
Nice name isn't it?

10.1 will show "on another call" on the phone display if the internal party you called is on the phone (as long as the feature is enabled).

Obviously I know about voicemail and so does the customer. I'm talking about a message that plays immediately if a person is on another call while the phone is ringing or even having something show on the phone itself if someone is on a call. I've already told the customer there's no way to do it but I figured I'd double check anyway.

Thank you Biv343 and Okkie26 that was the answer I was looking for.

The message on te phone display was not what you asked for so how can it be the answer you were looking for?

Next time i stare into my glass ball first, maybe i can see the right question in there.[witch]

OK let's get creative here :)
If you set your forward on busy to a shortcode that will play a prompt in Voicemail (nice word)playing a prompt to callers you can have it audible as well but you would need a shortcode for each user to make it work.
Then you could get the message that Whoever is on the phone and they can either wait or leave a message by pressing a key.

We have a simple solution to get a audible signal : busy tone which indicates the user is on a call.

Westi I like your thinking that's not a bad idea. Maybe I can work with something like that. And intrigrant I apologize for not being more clear in my original message. I just reread what I said originally and I definitely wasn't clear enough with what I said.

this is a flood of pink

Thanks for handing out stars

Queueing is available for stations isn't it?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Question, is this a system wide enable or per user enable feature?
This feature is exactly what Nortel key and BCM systems user was waiting for.

Looks like system-wide only to me, and I am seeing this available in 10.0 SP4 under the System>Telephony tab. It's unticked by default, but it is listed as "Advertise Callee State to Internal Callers".

It was added in R10.0. Its configurable as a system wide default or at individual user level if any users needs to be different from the system setting.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.
