We currently have an Avaya Definity s8300 and Audix for voicemail.

I have one specific problem with an extension where his message lamp does not indicate on his phone (4602SW IP).

I have tried re-creating his extension/mailbox and making sure all details are the same as other users.

Messages can be left without a problem however he is not notified at his phone with the LED.

Any ideas?

Names need to match in Octels, but not in Intuitys if that is what you have.

Right I've just looked in the administrators log on audix and there appears to be an issue with that particular extension the error message is:

SM201 1 subscriber <extn> switch id not found

Obviously <extn> has the user number. The issue is that it doesn't display 1 as the switch number, just a space.

If I change the switch number to anything else but 1 it will correctly display "switch id 2" or equivilent.

Strange. I wonder if the ext. could have been built as a remote subscriber at some time. ( I don't know how remote subs work, It's just an idea.)

I was just thinking that in 2 weeks 7 technicians haven't been able to turn on a light bulb.

Hmmm

It's really starting to annoy me now...... I've got a call open with our support company too. They suggested doing the audit names and subscriber data, however that didnt help.

change the subscriber to another extension and leave it in place. Then add another subscriber with the correct extension and leave a message. Then look at the activity log to see if it tried to turn on the light. I am assuming that the extension that doesn't work is sw id 1?

I will try that, but I think its something I've already done, I seem to be going round in circles now!

I also created a completely new station with a different extension and a new subscriber for that extension and seem to get the same problem.

So perhaps only stations that have been created before have worked.

Oh and yes its switch id 1, however when it says switch id not found, it just puts in a blank space, where as if i put switch id 2 into the subscriber details it will come up with "switch id 2 not found

This may not be exactly what you're looking for. But it might help.

To know if the bulbs all work, press and release HOLD (when you are not on a call) and type in the word t-e-s-t (8378) and the #. All the lights will light, the screen will go blank showing if there are any bad spots in the display (should be solid black). Then the display will come back and you can hit # to end the test.

I don't know why audix doesn't light the message light. But until we figure it out, you can change the station form on page 2 and set "audible message waiting" to yes. this will give you a broken dial tone when you have messages.

I know the lamp works, as I tried it with the feature code, plus the phone has been replaced. I didnt know about the audible message waiting setting, that will certainly be handy in the mean time.

Just so everyone knows, rebooting the phone system/audix solved this problem.

If this happens again call Avaya and ask them to do a data base rebuilt, also if this an Intuity LX make sure that you have all available patches installed.
