Hi there,

I'm hosting an SMS server (2.0 SP3) of approximately 600 clients and recently I noticed that this kind of messages are constantly appearing in the SMS_SOFTWARE_INVENTORY_PROCESSOR:

"Could not delete file "D:\SMS\inboxes\sinv.box\P0KI8VCE.sic". The operating system reported error 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Each time almost 1500 messages like this are created in just a few seconds...

Anyone seen this behaviour before?

All tips are welcome!

Thanks,

Andy

Error 32 means: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

A couple thoughts:

1. Is a backup of SMS or the server taking place?
2. Do you have an AntiVirus product aggressively scanning the SMS server? Rod Trent

Rod,

Backup is taking place and yes, we are scanning this with Norton Antivirus.

However, the messages are also popping up during the day, so I suspect that NAV has "something" to do with it ;-).

Thanks for the hint! I'll post the result to the forum...

Rod,

I have checked and:

1. backup is taking place at night and these messages are popping up during the day
2. Antivirus scanning on the folder has been disabled...

Any other idea's?

Andy

Please disregard the previous message: the problem seems to be solved by disabling Antivirus Scanning.

Thanks Rod!
