Hi .. can anyone help me? I've been asked how do you get rid of the little message boxes / bubbles which appear when, say, you first connect to the internet or if the PC sees a new piece of hardware.

Any ideas?

Cheers muchly.

You can try this fix to disable balloon tips .

You can diable Balloon Tips via the registry (regedit):
HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft Windows -> CurrentVersion
Change the DWORD at "EnableBalloonTips" from 1 to 0

There is also a specific box to check in the search program under "change preferences" for disabling balloon tips. I don't know if this just applies to the search program or the rest of windows.

Hi .. many thanks for this .. I am using XP Pro and it doesn't seem to be available. Any other ideas?

cheers

Is there anyway to do this through Group Policy? I have checked but can't find anything?

Many thanks

Howdy:

Try this..

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Double-click Folder Options.

On the View tab, find the Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items check box and uncheck it.

Apply and okay out.
