Merlin to Asterisk Help

I've connected my Merlin System to my Asterisk system via PRI (D100 Merlin blade to Asterisk T110P). It appears to me that both sides are happy with the PRI config (no errors at Merlin / green lights at Asterisk). Now I'm trying to define / enable extension numbers at the Merlin system ...... I see the PRI "Line Numbers" in Merlin (821 - 844) and am trying to start assigning those Lines starting at Extension 500 (thru 522) ..... I'm just groping around ... not very familiar with Merlin.

What I'm expecting to see / hear ..... when I dial 500 from a working Merlin ext I want Merlin to make the connection to Asterisk via PRI channel 1 .... I should be able to see the activity on the screen at the Asterisk box. Any help with the sequence I need to follow at the Merlin system would be appreciated.

Thanks CarGoSki! I was starting to assumed my post was below the level of intelligance anyone would respond to. I will get the print of the Merlin system on Tue and post it ..... thanks so much for the response.

I've been reeding everything I can find on the Merlin system over the last couple of days .... my vocabulary of Merlin is improving.

I suspect what I need to do is setup several of the PRI lines as a trunk / pool where, when an Asterisk extension is lifted off the hook a line is chosen from the pool to establish a connection with the Merlin system .....

I guess this is configured through the various "Tables" in Merlin ..... the numbering of thos tables I don't quite understand yet: 70, 890 .....

in anycase, if you can point me to a good reference book for Merlin programming ..... I'll spend the time to come up to speed.

What kind of PRI card are you using in asterisk?

While I am just learning about asterisk I do have experience connecting various Avaya systems to this and that. I have seen asterisk brought up as a topic in this forum but I do not recall seeing a resolution.

I suppose that we would need to be clear on how you intend to use the connection between the two systems. Do you intend to use the connection to dial extensions between them? Do you intend to access to the other systems' external trunking for external calls? Centralized voicemail?

Since none of the three have been obtained between a legend and an asterisk, the fact that you perhaps have a working connection is a positive thing.


How did you provision the pri on the legend? Or is it a Magix?

For documentation go to AVAYA's web site and download all the manuals for the MAGIX and the Legend NETWORK and Features manuals.

There are some examples to setup tie trunking between switches and dialplans for same. But you need to read through this stuff to get an overview of what you need to do.
