Hi,

I am a novice user of Merlin System, We have a 617R33-ML Processor, 1 408 MLX GS/LS-ID. 2 Lines coming in and We have a 2 Port Merlin Messenging R1.

Our Messenging and auto attendant was working fine till late. Now very Often, if we call from outside the Office, it will say right away "Transferring call to Operator", and does so sometimes with a "Static".

Once this starts happening and by some luck the Auto Attendant answers, we are unable to transfer to an extension or login into our voicemail. Doing anything gives "Invalid Entry"

We have also recieved the same message when calling from a Station 770. "Transferring to Operator". At Times the Status of the Merlin Messenging is Flashing Yellow and Not Steady Green.

It does not seem to me that at that time our 2 ports are being used up

All seems to be fine when We reboot the system, and then the flakiness begins.

Please let me know what can be done. Being getting a lot of helpful hints on this board.

Apologies in advance if my comments seems apparant from a Novice usr.

I've recently started having exactly the same problem... anyone have any ideas?

I have been looking into a static issue with one of our offices and I found this notice on Avaya's web site. Does this sound like the issues you are having?

Original This Quality Protection Plan Change Notice authorizes the replacement of Merlin Legend® / Merlin Magix™ 016 Tip/Ring Modules. Tier III has received customer complaints regarding excessive noise and static on their T/R voice terminals. This condition happens both on the intercom and during outside calls, and is worse when the volume is increased on the set. The affected modules were manufactured prior to April 11, 2001. The 617F34 (comcode 108514183) 016 Tip/Ring Module replacement has been upgraded to correct this complaint. This Change Notice is to be applied only to Tier III approved Direct customers or BusinessPartners in the U.S. or Non U.S. that are affected with the specific problems. This Change Notice is technician installable only and is service interrupting.

Mine has been happening without the 016 t/r-- for example when calling from the outside, the AA greeting/voice sounds 'fuzzy' and staticy at the same time.

We only seem to have static, when our Auto Attendant decides to not work , and we start getting "Invalid Entry" or "Transferring to Operator" for everything. When the System is working fine, Everything is OK and no noticable static.

Does anyone think that it could be a Hard Drive going Bad??

Merlinman, I am located in Minnesota but we are supporting a lot of field offices. I don't know very much about the legend so I am sure I will be submitting a lot of questions here.
