Have installed a Merlin Message with 8 port card.

I can not add the 8th port to the VM (770)group. It let me add 1-7 but not the 8th, it just peep at me.

When I go to Mtce. then Ports and try to look at station 7247 it also peeps. If I enter *1407 it show 7247. Status looks normal.

Any ideas????????????

It may be that 7247 is already a member of a different Calling Group. Run an extension report for 7247 and see if there's a value next to the "Group Calling Member" field (appears in the first 20 lines of the report).

My thoughts:

Is the Expansion/License card an 8 Port card?

Are there any other Voice Mail ports in the system?

Is the Expansion/License Good or Bad?

I have never seen one NOT WORK, nor have I seen one with one bad port, but I do know there is a limit on the total number of ports allowed to be in Voice Mail groups, either Integrated or Non-Integrated. (24 I think)

I have run a report on calling groups and 7247 is not a member of any other groups. I can't even add to rotary enable, it peeps.

I remove a defective Octel vm. I removed extension from 770 and just left the analog card in system and added new MM with 8 port to 770.

I tryed to do a print on station 7247. No go. I can do a print on 7248 and can add to rotary enable.

I've had bad Expansion/License card and they did not stop me from adding the ports to VM group.

Thank All

Octel did some strange stuff using "integration modules" to make their voicemail work with various systems.
Look at your "adjunct" numbering and "CTI" integration for the possibility of a "data module" passing caller info over to the Octel.

Did you do a board renumber after adding the new messaging module? Even if it recognizes the module in maintenance, I would still do a board renumber to make sure it is seeing it correctly.

Merlinman,

I've done an ext print and it shows ext 7247 as the 8th port on my VM card.

Telecomboy,

I've did a board renumber twice.

When I dial 7247 VM pick up and give me the standard welcome to MM greeting, and yet 770 calling group does not show 7247 as a member. and will not light VM lights

HELP!!!!!!!!

The only other thing I can think of is what Merlinman has already suggested. Run a report on Calling Group 770 and see if has reached it's 20 member maximum. Perhaps some of the old Octel ports are still assigned to this group?

Thanks To All

I flip flop MM with 024TDL and the trouble stayed with the slot. Port 8 does not work on the 024TDL.

CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYY ?????????????????

Maybe bad processor???????????

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is something really wrong here, and it isn't the processor or the backplane.

My final suggestion is that you follow the link and get in touch with Jack.

It's OK to be new to this stuff...we all were at one time. You'll learn a whole lot by going through the troubleshooting process with an old timer. Any costs you'll bear will be well worth it for you in the long run.
