Hey all,

This could be a really simple stupid question. I just set up my extension here in the office. The first couple days my Voicemail worked like a champ. I tried to set my extension up to cover the secretary after the third ring. Effectively i got that to work, but i also broke my voicemail. Whenever i try to call my phone, or someone calls my phone it just rings and rings and rings never any pickup from vmail.

Any Solutions?

Thanks,

How did you setup your phone to cover the secretary? The normal way - is to put a cover button for the secretary extention on your phone - and then set that cover button to delayed ring - which would make it ring on the 3rd ring - if the secretary is unable to take the call. Adding a cover button to your phone should have no affect on voicemail coverage - for calls that are made specifically to your extention. However, the coverage calls for the operator phone should not flow to your personal mailbox - they should ring until whatever other coverage options exist for the operator's extention take over - like a voicemail box for the operator and/or the autoattendant. If none exist - the operator's calls would ring until answered or the caller hangs up.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply.

I've created a resolution. Here's what i've done. When trying to do a cover, i thought the person that set it up created a cover group specifically for that. So i actually removed myself from the Voicemail covergroup (Group 1) in the attempt to add myself to another cover group. Didn't work out as well as i wanted it to apparently. So to resolve the issue i added myself to Group 1 again and found it transferring to my voicemail.

Thanks,

Now - just create a "delayed-ring" primary cover button for the operator extention on your phone. Choose any available blank button. Create the primary cover button - then reprogram the primary cover button for delayed ring.
