Please help! Our voicemail is stuck to an outside line and we do not know how to disconnect it so we can use our voice mail system. When we try to access the voicemail system it beeps like there is someone on the line on the voicemail and does not let us check voicemail. This is happening since this beep started 10 days ago. Our main number does not go into voicemail either when no one answers the phone so after hours no one can leave a message.

Does anyone know how to fix this.

Thank you in advance.

Since this is a Merlin Mail, I can only assume that it's the EXTERNAL version, that is: a white mini-tower located near your Telephone hardware.

That being said, step 1 would be to simply turn it off with the large red switch located near where the power cord plugs in.

Then wait a minute and turn it back on.

Usually that will clear this up, but if the problem persists, there may be more trouble shooting required.

The model is MLX 20L and we looked but there is no Red Button near the power plug in.

Please could you be a little more specific as we are novices in this.

Thank you.

The MLX20L is the Console phone! The VoiceMail equipment is probably located in the area near the wall-mounted Control Unit with cross-connect blocks, in a utility area or ? Most likely served from the same power outlet. Look there and see what you find. Then follow merlinman's instructions and see what happens.

To be more generic, the box on the wall with all the wires is the Control Unit. It has a power cord(s) and so does the external Voice Mail unit, which looks like a PC.

See if that helps!

Hi,

Thank you. I will try that tomorrow. Right now I do not have access to it.

Will keep you updated.

Thank you.

Thank you guys. All your tips worked. I turned the power switch off for one minute and the voice mail activated.

Thank you all.

Appreciate it.
