Has any one ever imaged a drive out of Merlin mail system? Our mail system has been flaky the last couple of weeks and I though it would save a lot of time just to image the existing drive to another drive. If I have to replace it.

Imaging the drive is difficult - and may result in carrying over the same "corrupted" software to the replacement drive. You are probably better off purchasing a replacement drive with fresh software - which unfortunately means re-doing the programming, announcements, etc. To expedite re-programming matters, I would connect to the merlin mail via hyperterminal and print the current configuration report to a file. At least that will tell you how the configuration was set up - and speeds the task of re-programming...tomd

Thanks Tom, It looks like it was just a bad port causing the problem. I have never connected to the mail with hyper terminal. Do you just use a null modem cable?

Use a null modem and the DB9 connection on the merlin mail - not the DB25. Use hyperterminal software, set at 1200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, xon/xoff. Once you connect, press "enter" and you will be prompted for the password. Use the 6-digit serial# for the merlin mail as the password. You will see the full menu appear on the screen. You can set hyperterminal to capture to a text file, then choose "Configuration" and download the report. You can also choose to B. Shutdown the system - and after shutdown when the menu reappears, run the port test and hard drive tests, then restart the system.
